In 1964 the Shelby Daytona Coupe won the GT Class at Sebring and again, later, at the LeMans 24 Hour (24 Heures du Mans). More importantly, it played a signal role in snatching the trophy and the title 'World Manufacturers Championship' from the clutches of Enzo Ferrari. It is no surprise that today it remains one of the most replicated cars due to its proportionate lines, performance and pedigree.

While there are many fine replicas available on the market, there are a few of them that are built above and beyond the rest to really bring out the best of what the original Daytona Coupe had to offer. This sleek beauty is no exception; it has retained many period qualities during the build but has had a creative twist added to offer a slightly different appeal.

The "Dan Rose Special" is a Peter Brock–approved (documented) subtle redesign of the Shelby/Brock Daytona Coupe. Coachwork by Bob Schumacher of Omaha, Nebraska; chassis by Shaun King of Wisconsin, it was originally built in 2004 for a Mr. Watson.

In 2007 it was purchased by Dan Rose, where it began its transformation and many subtle changes, making it the driving machine it is today. Much of the work was completed by two main specialists: John Corson of Pine Plains, New York, and Wheels of Time, also in Pine Plains. The overall build quality and attention to detail is of the highest quality. Utilizing a fiberglass monocoque on a 3" tubular-steel safety cage and chassis with a 90" wheelbase, all measured from the original, this car was built to spec.

Dan Rose completed many design changes including many minor changes to the nose and hood, as well as lowering the top of the windshield and extending quarter windows past the 'B pillar.' Eliminating the spoiler, and finishing it with Trigo Halibrand replica wheels and a slightly different custom-made Hushpower exhaust, it boasts many creative touches. The interior was completed with once M&R three-point harnesses aluminum seats and a nicely completed dash with Stewart-Warner gauges.

Below are the some of the spectacular particulars of this

CLOSING COMMENTS

The condition of this Coupe throughout is superb. The car has logged only just over 1,700 miles (2,750 km), so it shows like new. The coachwork is free of any blemishes or stone chips with excellent fit & finish throughout. The cockpit also shows well–it's new and free of any defects. Just like the rest of this ultimate driving machine, the undercarriage evidences hardly any use at all.

All things considered, the "Dan Rose Special" is a salute to one of the best GT cars known, finished in striking colors, with impressive build quality during a very creative but subtle redesign this car offers one of your best opportunities to possess a fine Daytona Coupe replica. Included in your purchase are full documentation, build photos, a spare set of keys, et al.
