GT40 Mk1 by CAV/Auto Futura of Cape Town, South Africa. Gun Metal Grey/Gun Mist Stripes over black leather.

This is one of eight GTs built by CAV for Backdraft Racing for 2009, and the only one to feature twin nostrils from the factory. This offering was to celebrate the success of Backdraft Racing in the United States and to expand the portfolio. Each BDRGT was assembled by CAV to world class standards and optioned by Backdraft with the most popular options for performance and appearance. The factory-built BDRGT offers fit, finish, and detail you won't find in kit versions of the legendary GT40.

This stunning sports car has accumulated less than 900 easy miles [±1,448 km] and has enjoyed a pampered existence as a show car for Vintage Motorsports on the 2009/10 exhibition schedule.

Legally titled and licensed as a 1966 GT40 for easy transfer of ownership if you're either an international or domestic (U.S.) purchaser.

 Powertrain particulars:

There is no bigger name in Ford engines today than Jack Roush. Each Roush engine is built to order and undergoes a level of quality control other builders simply cannot attain. This comes from offering their own in-house warranty policy (no third party insurance companies) and having to back it up. "The Art of Performance Engineering,"—as they put it. Beyond the standard components found in the 342R from Roush, this engine features an upgrade to fully-polished finish with upgraded pentroof style valve covers.

Exhaust: The distinct bundle of snakes exhaust is coated inside and out with Jet-Hot ceramic coating for efficient heat transfer and durability. This configuration creates a distinct exhaust note proper to the long sprints of LeMans.

Geartrain: An upfitted Audi 6-speed transaxle specially prepared by CAV for this applicaton provides an extra gear of forward motion and smooth shifting.

Fuel system: In preparing this car for market, Vintage Motorsports determined that the factory fuel system was inadequate for the Roush powerplant and has added an entirely new system at a cost of nearly $2,000 to the original purchase price. This change is not reflected in the photos, which were taken the week prior.

Chassis/Suspension/Rolling Stock particulars

Chassis: Industry-leading TIG-welded, stainless-steel monocoque chassis. Billet aluminum front uprights, cast aluminum rear uprights, with an adjustable anti-rollbar linkage. Adjustable sping rate front & rear.

Brakes: Power-assisted 4-wheel disc brakes featuring Wilwood 4-pot aluminum calipers; over 300mm slotted and vented rotors.

Rolling stock: Goodyear Eagle F1 rubber {315/35ZRx17" rear; 235/45ZR17" front} on 17" Halibrand knockoff wheels. The rear wheels are the upgraded 12"-wide units to fill the Gulf fender flares in the rear.

Noteworthy: This is a crowd stunner. Vintage Motorsports has featured this vehicle in their show displays for the last 18 months; it's easily the most photographed vehicle at any show attended. At the All Ford Nationals [Ford's 'Living Legends' Chief Designer] Camilo Pardo could not resist the proffered opportunity and took her for a spin. Now it's your turn.
