Kirkham
Cobra
-SOLD-

Photo
above is hotlinked (same image,
larger size).
You're looking
at the very best of the best: a 427 all-aluminum Cobra (precise
reproduction of Shelby's original 1965 thunder serpent) made
by Kirkham Motorsports... considered the finest Cobra
roadster you can possess. It's extremely fast.
As you
can see this drivin' machine is finished in a Dark Navy Blue with white racing
stripes, with black leather/ period-correct cockpit. The paint
job alone would be a crowd-stopper at the Pebble Beach
(or Amelia Island) Concours.
I selected
renowned Chuck Gutke of Cobra Restorers in Kennesaw, Georgia
to do all the work. Chuck has been in the Cobra building and
restoration business for almost 40 years, and is widely adjudged
the premier restorer and builder along the entire eastern seaboard.
Here
are some of the details of this serpent:
UNDER
THE HOOD
Keith
Craft
aluminum 427 side-oiler

engine
photo is hotlinked (same view,
larger size).
The
engine is outfitted with:
- Keith
Craft
block bored/stroked to 483 cid, balanced & blueprinted;
everything was carefully matched
- 11.5:1
compression ratio
- Dyno'd
(both in and out of the car, at Keith Craft's facility)
at 618 horsepower/623 ft. lbs. torque at the rear
wheels
- You're
treated to breathtaking acceleration; since this powerhouse
will readily rev up to 7,500 rpm, a rev limiter was prudently
installed so you don't lunch your engine.
- premium
billet stroker crank
- aluminum
Edelbrock heads
- Barry
Grant
carburetor that started as a 750 cfm, but is blueprinted
to 883
- 13 quart/12.3
litre Aviaid road racing oil pan with windage trays
- Griffin aluminum radiator
We invested
over $30,000 building this powerplant--nothing was spared or
compromised. When you crank it up the melody exiting those sidepipes
is breathtaking.
GEAR
TRAIN
- large-shaft Ford T-10
toploader gearbox with hardened and shaved gears for faster shifting
- in the rear, a Jaguar/Salisbury
IRS fitted with 3.54:1 ratio gearing. This is the same setup
as the competition 427 Cobras of 1965.
COCKPIT

cockpit:
hotlinked (same view,
larger size).
COCKPIT
DETAILS
The interior
is the same as the competition Cobras of 1965. Notice--no side
pockets and no glovebox. The steering wheel, Smiths Instruments
gauges and other cockpit particulars are all of the correct style
and period. The twin (gel) batteries are behind the passenger
seat, with the kill switch attached.
ROLLING
STOCK
You get two sets of wheels
and tires with the car. On it now are the 6-spoke FIA wheels
fitted with B.F. Goodrich rubber.
Your second set are also
6-spoke wheels fitted with Goodyear racing rubber. They're
brand-new and have never been mounted on the car. The wheels
were painted white just like most of the competition cars of
the period.

This
frontal shot is hotlinked (same view,
larger size).
ALSO
INCLUDED
- custom car cover
- a dossier of most of
the receipts for the build
- removable meatballs
on the sides (they peel off)
- You
get the original bill of sale and Certificate of Origin
for the car. You will also get your own bill of sale so
you can get the car licensed in your state or province or country.
I invested
over $140,000 into this Cobra to make it as close to the original
competition cars as is possible (only better!).
The Cobra
has 15,000 miles on it and the new engine about 500 miles.
I have
a trailer that was made for this Cobra that you can purchase
for another $5,000.
This
is the fastest and most-crowd-stopping Cobra that you're likely
to find at any price.
It's
all ready (champing at the bit, in fact) for street, open
track or racing!
Family
situation forces me to sell this
breathtaking beauty--thus priced to sell promptly at
$87,500
