This is a no-holds-barred, full-race track Cobra. Professionally constructed, engineered and developed by Harrison Auto Dynamics of Phoenix, Arizona, this Cobra was purpose-built to comply with SCCA Super Production (SP) Class for production-based and replica cars. Any modifications to chassis, engine, drivetrain, and coachwork are allowed in what is for all intents and purposes an unlimited race class.

It has been campaigned mainly at Phoenix International and Firebird raceways, with appearances at Lime Rock, New Hampshire and Sears Point, California.

Here are more details about this serpentine racing machine:

Among the full complement of parts and components under the hood:

The engine is a freshly-built Carroll Shelby 427FE aluminum block that now displaces 497 cubic inches. Bore is 4.31; stroke is 4.25. It's outfitted with:

  • CP pistons (new)
  • Comp Cams roller cam (new)
  • Edelbrock aluminum heads
  • T&D shaft roller rockers
  • Eagle H-beam rods (new)
  • stainless valves
  • Comp Cams springs and titanium retainers
  • Scat billet crank
  • Aviad dry sump system
  • XRP SuperLight hoses (new)
  • Ford Motorsport damper
  • Flexplate/Quartermaster/AP Racing 3-disc 7.25" clutch
  • MSD billet distributor and ignition
  • FAST (Comp Cams) electronic fuel injection

Prior to this rebuild the engine produced 620 horsepower and 635 ft. lb. torque. It should now
produce a little more, since the compression ratio was increased from 11.8 to 12.4.

GEAR TRAIN

Mid Valley Engineering (MVE) Super T10–type gearbox, Hewland gears with dog engagement. This is an early version of the NASCAR gearbox without internal oil pump—an external electric pump is employed. Further details:

  • transmission gear ratios: 2.267, 1.684, 1.273, and 1.000
  • Lakewood steel bellhousing scattershield
  • aluminum third member; 9" Ford rear differential; Tru Track differential final drive [3.33:1 ratio]

above "naked-chassis" shot is hotlinked (same view, larger size).

The chassis started out as a Hi-Tech Motorsports which is a faithful copy of that of the original 427 Cobra coil-spring/ ladder frame with 4" diameter tubing and a 90" wheelbase. Approximately 100 ft. of additional steel tubing was added to the frame for increased stiffness and to comply with SCCA safety regulations.

Additionally the frame was specially designed so that the transmission can be removed from beneath the car. The rear suspension is of standard 427 Cobra design with the exception of revised shock-mounting points to render a 1:1 motion ratio.

The front suspension is completely redesigned and is a pushrod configuration. Ohlins double-adjustable shocks and Eibach springs are used front & rear.

The basis of the coachwork was also the Hi-Tech Motorsports 427. New molds were created by Arizona Prototype and the body now consists of 14 individual carbon fiber panels easily removed for accessibility. You get the complete mold set for the body panels.

 FUEL SYSTEM

  • Fuel Safe custom 25-gallon/95 litre fuel cell (bladder should be replaced for age)
  • Aeromotive main fuel pump
  • two internal feed pumps

This 'Bad News in other drivers' rearview mirror' shot is hotlinked to
a closeup view of aft end of this ultimate asphalt-kicking machine.

This is the quintessential 800-pound gorilla at any 'track day' event—designed and engineered strictly for off-highway competition.

There is no vehicle title—ownership is transferred by a routine bill of sale. You get the SCCA log book.
