I decided to employ Ford SVO to
build my engine. One of the motorheads at Ford SVO advised me,
"If I had a Cobra, I would use an A-351 Windsor because
it has the hottest roller cam with the exhaust 'pop' you want
a Cobra to have." So I did, and it's outfitted with
this high-performance componentry:
- GT40 aluminum heads
- 750 cfm Holley
carburetor
- Edelbrock Torker II intake
- Griffin 600 hp radiator
- K&N air cleaner
- roller cam
- MSD ignition package
- Mallory solid-state distributor
When was the last time
you encountered a Cobra engine with a 4" deep K&N
air cleaner? This was effected by exchanging the Edelbrock
Air Gap manifold for a lower-profile Torker II.
This modification yields a flat torque curve that provides breathtaking
right-offidle power and throttle response.
Chassis dyno yielded
344 rear wheel horsepower which factors 430 flywheel horsepowernot
bad for a Windsor on a 2,350 lb. [1,066 kilogram] drivin'
machine. That's a crotch-rocket motorcycle power-to-weight
ratio! Real-world experience: Italian and German sports cars...
make a nice lunch!
Performance: you can expect to turn high
10's to low 11's at 135 mph in the quarter mile.

When doing my
research before building my Cobra, I noticed I could not get
my knees under the dash of any Cobra I sat in-until I sat in
a Lone Star LS427. The Lone Star had cockpit room;
my knees fit comfortably under the steering column.
Cockpit is generously
outfitted with:
