1965 Shelby Cobra replica by Unique Motorcars, professionally completed in 2007. As you will see evidenced in the photographs, this is one of the most authentically-correct Cobras you're likely to encounter.

All components, including engine, transmission, suspension, et al., were installed brand-new. It has been driven only about 2,000 miles (3,200 km) since completion. You get all the receipts verifying cost of all the components that went into this sleek serpent.

POWERPLANT
original Ford 406FE big-block V8

The 406FE powerplant was built by Southern Automotive as an exacting replica of the famed 427 side-oiler—at a cost of over $11,000. Here's a partial roster of the premium componentry that went into this engine:

  • original cast-iron 390FE block (dynos at 430 horsepower)
  • original Ford cast iron heads [updated with stainless steel intake and exhaust valve sleeves]
  • 9.8:1 compression ratio (runs on 93 octane pump gas)
  • Holley 750 cfm carburetor (in period-correct polished aluminum turkey pan)
  • original Ford forged-steel rods
  • Zollner high-performance pistons
  • hydraulic lifter camshaft
  • Canton 8-quart oil pan with original style Ford windage tray
