Shelby 427 Cobra for sale by owner

27 July 2015

Dear Cobra Country:

My Indigo Blue Superformance Cobra is SOLD and gone... after only a week or so on Cobra Country!

Your website is the only place anyone should go to sell their Cobra. Curt advised me that my good photos would sell my car promptly, and he was right!

I had several inquiries from all around the country, and two serious buyers... one in northern California and one down south in Orange County. It's now gone to a new stable in Mission Viejo.

My ad on eBay spawned tire kickers, lowballers and a few interesting trade opportunities.

Buying and selling of Cobras should be done on your site exclusively.

Best regards,

Bryan Jerome

27 July 2015: My Indigo Blue Superformance Cobra is SOLD and gone... after only a week or so on Cobra Country! Best regards, Bryan Jerome

—CobraCountry tribute: Chuck Gutke—

We learned just today that Chuck Gutke (Cobra Restorers, Kennesaw, Georgia) passed away two days ago (on Saturday, July 11).

Chuck was a veritable fount of knowledge and expertise in the 'Shelby metal' industry since not long after Charlton Heston parted The Red Sea. At any point in time he had forgotten more about Ford FE powerplants and 'toploader' transmissions and performance tweaking than most of us will ever know. He was a legend.

Our condolences go out to his wife Sandra, his sons and his extended family. We'll miss ye, ol' buddy.

This is a splendid, take-no-prisoners original Ford FE powerplant that's outfitted with: Eagle, Scat, Diamond, Comp Cams, Edelbrock, Blue Thunder, Holley, Quick Fuel, Melling, Aviaid, Griffin... the premium componentry and parts roster goes on and on. Legend-correct in every respect. The luggage compartment is finished in 'full-race' aluminum trim, but with ERA's trunk carpet set still in the original box.

For Sale: 427SC Cobra reproduction by Exact 427 and Roger Bollock in Austin, Texas. Rangoon Red (correct single-stage, as per the original)/black upholstery. The BIG Picture: Click Here! Titled in Arizona as a 1965 'Special Contstruction' vehicle. This li'l red reptile is a breathtakingly accurate recreation of a Shelby 427SC... as commented to me by a Shelby American appraiser. This is the third serpent produced by Roger; I purchased it from him as a roller with no cockpit appurtenances except seats. Roger's attention to detail is superb. The coachwork is carbon fiber; the carbon fiber is painstakingly wrapped around shaped steel wire on the edges of the wheel wells to closely recreate the rolled-edge appearance of aluminum skin. The entire body weighs only 46 pounds (21 kg), thus significantly boosting this drivin' machine's power-to-weight ratio. You also get a (second) racing windscreen taken from a mold from CSX3002. BIG broadside shot: Click Here! Under the hood: original 427 side-oiler bored 0.030' over with steel crank and LeMans rods, Milodon 'Cheater' cam drive. 10.1:1 compression (runs on premium pump gas); a gear-reduction starter; racing oil pan by Armando (with electric heater for winter prep). BIG Photo of powerplant: Click Here! Geartrain: billet aluminum flywheel and Centerforce clutch assembly inside of a Lakewood bellhousing, 5-speed gearbox, new Salisbury IRS with aluminum casing, Dana 44 gears and Spicer joints. Rolling stock: (6-pin) pin-drive genuine Trigo wheels shod with BFG Radial T/A raised-letter rubber. Additionally: separate set of genuine Trigo 15" wheels shod with Goodyear 'Billboard' rubber, all in excellent condition: negotiable with buyer (if they're still available), or priced separately for $1,750.  Gold Metal 'slabside' debuted at A.H.A./Pomona show

Shelby 427 Cobras for sale by owner

Here it is, folks:the 24k gold–bodied Kirkham 289 roadster introduced at the A.H.A.'s Fun-in-the-Sun show at Pomona.

Picked up only 13 days before at Kirkham's facility in Provo, Utah, this drivin' machine ranks as perhaps the most star-studded serpent of all time. Proud owner Darren Friedman wouldn't reveal just how many bullion bars were required for the 0.0125 mil gold sheet that was used to create this glistening beauty. But there's a whole lotta bullion goin' on here. Photo by Curt Scott.

Cobra/Daytona Coupe admirers: adjust your harnesses

Peter Brock sent us this YouTube video link, which features a Daytona Coupe negotiating (at speed, of course) the straights, curves, corners and surface aberrations of Germany's historic Nürburgring track [Nürburg is the town—in Germany's Rheinland—"Ring" is how Germans characterize a circular track... hence "Nürburgring"]. Just click on the hotlinked 1961 Nürburgring "Grand Prix of Europe" Rennprogramm (race program) cover at left to transport yourself to The Nürburg Ring...

Needless to say, this is a video (and AUDIO) spectacular, so adjust your volume accordingly! And here's a li'l surprise: as genuine as the camera work appears to be, it's a digitally-produced animation... and it's wunderbar! Enjoy! Curt

11 March: You can mark my Bright Green/Mecca Pearl Contemporary Cobra SOLD! Gone (as a wedding present) to a wonderful bride & groom in northern Virginia! First thing I would like to say is thanks personally to Curt Scott of Cobra Country. Curt is reason my car sold at the price it did, when it did, to the young bride-to-be it did. Curt called me up after I sent him my first round of photos and gently informed me "We have to talk." I became—with Curt's guidance—an expert at photographing Cobras. Curt's Cobra photography tips could make a professional photographer out of a blind man. His pointers are quite straightforward, and above all impart the proper methods to shoot these cars. My Cobra was selected and purchased entirely because my second round of photos really captured its beauty. The sale went flawlessly. From the first contact with Cobra Country, the photography lesson, the buyers' inquiries and every other aspect of this sale was not only professional, it was a joy. My car went for the price I wanted to some absolutely wonderful, appreciative people. All of the guidance I encountered from Cobra Country was expert and spot-on for marketing and selling a high-priced motorcar over the internet. I cannot recommend Cobra Country more highly. I was even invited to the wedding, as was Curt. Now that's how you market and sell and buy a car. See ya' in Gettysburg, Curt. Doc Fallon

Cobra
Photography Tips
hotlink

You may think that all you need to know to take good photos of your Cobra is 1) how to turn on your camera, 2) how to aim it in the general direction of your serpent, and 3) how to press the shutter.

Think again.

That's the time-tested formula for capturing crappy snapshots that'll prompt all your potential buyers to flee screaming into the wilderness.

And justifiably so.

Photojournalist Curt Scott's latest revision has been carefully reworked just for you! It's a priceless investment of your time... a 'how-to manual' to very quickly enable you to capture professional-caliber photos of your Cobra or GT40.

Print it out, read it and heed it! And use the 7 'checklist' pages as you're snapping your shutter to make sure you take advantage of every expert tip.

Synthetic Oil: Rx for Long Engine Life

I keep getting questions about this ground-breaking treatise on synthetic oil that I researched and wrote in the early and mid-1980s, and first published way back in 1986.

Here's a hotlink to the only copy of that original article that I gave permission to be published (to Aaron Daniel, of the GetAHelmet.com website)... and the only copy on the Internet that I know of that is 100% replete with all of my original text, charts, captions and photos.
