17 October 2014

Dear Cobra Country:

You can mark my E.R.A. 289FIA SOLD!

I had at least 2 dozen inquiries since the ad was placed in September, including one from France!

The lucky new owner lives way up in Mill Valley (Marin County). He came all the way down to San Diego to see it... and was sold once he saw it and rode in it!

BTW, he actually owned an original Cobra when he was in the Navy in San Diego—flew McDonnell Douglas F4 'Phantom' fighter jets.

Best regards,

Mike Chase

Please mark my Superformance MkIII (SP003112) SOLD!

I received phone calls and emails from as far away as Belgium and even Switzerland, but I am happy to report her new owner hails from the great state of Texas!

I can’t thank you enough for guiding me through the process and for continuing to offer this service. Not even Carroll Shelby can claim as many Cobra sales as Cobra Country!

Yet another sale of a Superformance Cobra I've listed with you—and in less than two weeks on Cobra Country!

This Indigo Blue beauty went to a fellow Cobra enthusiast way out in California... who braved the current chaos at our O'Hare airport to fly in and out to test-drive his new serpentine steed today. It was too large to qualify as carry-on luggage or he would surely have taken it aboard with him!

Thanks for your site's expert guidance in getting our photography efforts just right... makes all the difference!

I also extend a big 'Thank you!' to ERA for building a superb FIA; even after 10 years my fine drivin' machine has held its value.

Also a tip 'o' the visor to Curt Vogt at Cobra Automotive in Wallingford, who did the world-class engine work and advised me "If you're gonna build a Cobra, go with ERA 'cause they're the best!"

21 July 2014

Dear Cobra Country:

Please mark my Guardsman Blue E.R.A. Cobra SOLD! Gone to a lucky new owner way out west in northern California!

Two factors I attribute for this prompt sale of my Cobra: 1) it's a superbly-executed E.R.A. built at E.R.A.'s shop in New Britain, Connecticut (need I say more?), and 2) over the years Curt has skillfully honed Cobra Country into the Internet's 'Go To Place' to sell... or buy... your Cobra. There's no place that connects Cobra buyers to Cobra sellers better.

25 January 2014

Dear Cobra Country:

You can mark my Sunset Red MkIII SOLD... only 30 days after it went up on your site!

It's headed for California and it was bought sight-unseen. My good photos sold the car, just as Curt predicted. I have also had four more inquiries (and counting!) since I sold it.

When I was thinking about buying a Cobra and putting that much money into it, I knew that when the time came to sell it that I could not list it locally and get the real value of the car. I had been looking at your site and saw how well the Cobras sell, so I felt that I could get the true value of my Cobra by listing it with you,,, and I did.

I might not have owned a Cobra had it not been for Cobra Country—and I would have missed the most enjoyment anyone can have behind the wheel of a car.

Shelby 427 Cobras for sale by owner

Here it is, folks:the 24k gold–bodied Kirkham 289 roadster introduced at the A.H.A.'s Fun-in-the-Sun show at Pomona.

Picked up only 13 days before at Kirkham's facility in Provo, Utah, this drivin' machine ranks as perhaps the most star-studded serpent of all time. Proud owner Darren Friedman wouldn't reveal just how many bullion bars were required for the 0.0125 mil gold sheet that was used to create this glistening beauty. But there's a whole lotta bullion goin' on here. Photo by Curt Scott.

Cobra/Daytona Coupe admirers: adjust your harnesses

Peter Brock sent us this YouTube video link, which features a Daytona Coupe negotiating (at speed, of course) the straights, curves, corners and surface aberrations of Germany's historic Nürburgring track [Nürburg is the town—in Germany's Rheinland—"Ring" is how Germans characterize a circular track... hence "Nürburgring"]. Just click on the hotlinked 1961 Nürburgring "Grand Prix of Europe" Rennprogramm (race program) cover at left to transport yourself to The Nürburg Ring...

Needless to say, this is a video (and AUDIO) spectacular, so adjust your volume accordingly! And here's a li'l surprise: as genuine as the camera work appears to be, it's a digitally-produced animation... and it's wunderbar! Enjoy! Curt

11 March 2012: You can mark my Bright Green/Mecca Pearl Contemporary Cobra SOLD! Gone (as a wedding present) to a wonderful bride & groom in northern Virginia! First thing I would like to say is thanks personally to Curt Scott of Cobra Country. Curt is reason my car sold at the price it did, when it did, to the young bride-to-be it did. Curt called me up after I sent him my first round of photos and gently informed me "We have to talk." I became—with Curt's guidance—an expert at photographing Cobras. Curt's Cobra photography tips could make a professional photographer out of a blind man. His pointers are quite straightforward, and above all impart the proper methods to shoot these cars. My Cobra was selected and purchased entirely because my second round of photos really captured its beauty. The sale went flawlessly. From the first contact with Cobra Country, the photography lesson, the buyers' inquiries and every other aspect of this sale was not only professional, it was a joy. My car went for the price I wanted to some absolutely wonderful, appreciative people. All of the guidance I encountered from Cobra Country was expert and spot-on for marketing and selling a high-priced motorcar over the internet. I cannot recommend Cobra Country more highly. I was even invited to the wedding, as was Curt. Now that's how you market and sell and buy a car. See ya' in Gettysburg, Curt. Doc Fallon

Photography Tips

You may think that all you need to know to take good photos of your Cobra is 1) how to turn on your camera, 2) how to aim it in the general direction of your serpent, and 3) how to press the shutter.

Think again.

That's the time-tested formula for capturing crappy snapshots that'll prompt all your potential buyers to flee screaming into the wilderness.

And justifiably so.

Photojournalist Curt Scott's latest revision has been carefully reworked just for you! It's a priceless investment of your time... a 'how-to manual' to very quickly enable you to capture professional-caliber photos of your Cobra or GT40.

Print it out, read it and heed it! And use the 7 'checklist' pages as you're snapping your shutter to make sure you take advantage of every expert tip.

Synthetic Oil: Rx for Long Engine Life

I keep getting questions about this ground-breaking treatise on synthetic oil that I researched and wrote in the early and mid-1980s, and first published way back in 1986.

Here's a hotlink to the only copy of that original article that I gave permission to be published (to Aaron Daniel, of the GetAHelmet.com website)... and the only copy on the Internet that I know of that is 100% replete with all of my original text, charts, captions and photos.
