Some of (the venerable) Tom McCahill's comments: "This hairy-chested rat will take some big ones... and maybe even win LeMans." "Not since the Cunninghams of ten years back has an Americanized sports car caused quite so much speculation as the new Cobra. Similar to the Allards of a decade ago, the Cobra is a half-English, half-American venture that is getting more American by the hour." Of his track tests in St. Petersburg (that's Florida, not Russia), folksy McCahill wrote in part "This pail has two beautiful bucket seats; the trunk is on the sparse side, but ample for One-Shirt Geronimo... when equipped with the big competition tires, it appears as functional as a five-armed Irishman in a saloon fight." And Tom's prescient words (on the 5th page of his coverage): "Here is a car that might well win LeMans." Bear in mind, ol' Tom penned those prophetic words about 18 months before that li'l drivin' machine captured LeMans AND the WMC/ World Manufacturers Championship (conferred in February, 1965). Tom summed up his 6-page celebrated article with what proved to be an understatement of the ages "As Hermione Glockenfeather said, 'Time will tell,' but I for one feel the Cobra will make quite a record for itself before it reaches retirement age'."
