Ertl described the Shelby 427 "Team Essex" Cobra with these words: "The Cobra 427 was the ultimate evolution of the small car, big-engine philosophy. Technologically unsophisticated, the Cobra was bred to do one thing: go fast. It did that with a vengeance. The 427 shared the basic lines of the earlier 289s but magnified the curvaceous body into a brutal, lethal-looking beast ready to pounce upon the unwary. In S/C (Street/Competition) trim the Cobra featured a single 4-bbl carb and produced far-in-excess of 425 horspower. Suspension improvements included larger brakes and front & rear anti-roll bars. Complete instrumentation kept the driver informed, while the slightly muffled exhaust made the rest of the world aware of what lurked inside.

This die-cast spectacular from the same Essex Corporation that sponsored this racecar comes with a booklet that describes in riveting detail the history of this winningest Cobra of all time.

This Essex Wire/Ertl 427 Cobra roadster features opening doors and hood, a function steering wheel, a complete interior, detailed chassis and drivetrain, Halibrand wheels and a 427" V8 with 4-speed toploader transmission.
