This 1964 #5 Cobra Daytona Coupe was piloted to star status by track legends Bob Bondurant and Dan Gurney; in 1965 Shelby's Cobra Daytona Coupe wrested the World Manufacturers Championship from the clutches of Ferrari. How do we manage to adequately describe this objet d'art? This 1:18 scale heavyweight (2.lb./0.75 kilogram) Shelby Daytona Coupe by Exoto is one of the very finest die-cast models we've ever seen. The details are absolutely exquisite, all the way down to the spokes and Cobra logo on the steering wheel, the stainless-steel fine-screen vent covers on the front fenders, the Weber-equipped 289" small-block V8, the accurately-scaled ignition wiring and battery cables, the Halibrand wheels and the superbly-detailed Goodyear Blue-Line tires, the chromed rivets along the circumference of the tinted rear window. Even the dashboard gauges are finished to the very smallest details (the gauge needles are red colored, and even the speedometer's redline mark is indicated). The doors, the engine cover and the rear hatchback window are all hinged and operable. This model is a fitting tribute to Peter Brock's motoring masterstroke.
