Painstakingly built to exacting in 1998 to original Shelby Cobra specifications and correct original (menacing) stance.
California registration, 1965 Ford Roadster—VIN#HTM65C0104. Tom D’Antonio and his Hi Tech Motorsports in the 1990s set the reproduction standards that became Shelby’s CSX ‘Continuation’ Cobras (you can google that anecdotal piece of Shelby Cobra history).

420 cid Ford ‘Windsor’ stroker
[delivers 551hp, 568 ft./lbs. torque]
Original 1972 Ford 420 cid stroker [351 Windsor block] from Shaver Racing, Torrance California. Dyno sheet; (551 horsepower, 568 ft./lbs. torque in a 2,460 lb. [1,116 kg] Cobra.) Instant power, instant speed.
This engine was dyno tested with an HEI ignition setup. After engine installation it was then fitted with MSD 6AL system—added 15 hp. Have dyno sheet and photos of complete build and all changes made.
Outfitted with: Scat crank & rods, JE pistons, Clevite bearings, Comp Cams hydraulic-roller cam, Isky lifters, Jessel rockers. Edelbrock Victor C&C ported aluminum heads, SS valves, port-matched Victor Jr. aluminum manifold, with Holley 750 cfm double-pumper race carburetor topped with Cobra K&N oval air cleaner and polished aluminum “Ford Motorsport” valve covers. Complete MSD ‘Pro Billet’ distributor with ignition wires and 6AL control box concealed under dash.
Silver ceramic coated long tube headers, with correct extra-long side pipes flowing through 5” diameter “open mufflers” [no baffles – this is a full-throated Cobra, no sound suppression at any speed and the lope at idle always draws a crowd)].
Original Shelby style (correctly located) single-core aluminum radiator with high cfm puller-mounted electric cooling fan activated by either manual or temperature switch [at front of radiator is frame to mount original style dual fans]. Always runs at moderate 150° to 180° in any weather. Remote aluminum front oil cooler with SS lines and ANSA fittings below radiator. Original style “up top” black-painted brass Ford surge tank with rubber and aluminum hoses, and correct pressure cap.
Milodon 7-qt. [6.6L] oil pan with windage tray, Melling high-volume oil pump, remote high-capacity filter unit with temp gauge/sender, all braided SS lines with ANSA aircraft-style fittings.
Lightweight steel-aluminum flywheel with Centerforce hydraulic clutch. Tremec 3550 TKO 5-speed transmission, balanced driveshaft with steel safety loop, Ford Posi-Traction 9” differential converted to IRS (3.55:1 final ratio). Reinforced halfshafts and outboard Wilwood brakes.
This is the same “bulletproof” Ford IRS rear suspension as installed on the first Shelby ‘Continuation’ Cobras (rated for over 600 hp). Recently serviced with new seals.

Original-style 15” Moto-Lita hardwood-rimmed steering wheel, right-hand side turn indicator lever with flasher dash lights, genuine Smiths Instrument blackfaced gauges [with ‘correct’ reverse-winding 180 mph speedometer and ‘correct’ Lucas amps gauge].
Special camel color leather upholstery with full carpets (with piping on the edges), correct reversed shifter lever & AC pedals, driver 4-point Simpson quick-release harness & lap belt, correct door and hood latch fittings, leather map pocket in each door.
Painted & polished cast 15″ original Halibrand-style 6-pin pin-drive wheels (8.5” front & 10.5” rear) and SS (stainless-steel) spinner knockoffs. Knockoffs drilled for safety wire. You get my torque-hub tool (to tighten the spinners).
All shod with NEW (Oct 2017) B.F.Goodrich ‘Radial T/A’ rubber [255/60Rx15″ front; 275/60Rx15″ rear].

Rugged handlaid glass body bonded to frame on Hi-Tech Motorsports original-style reinforced 4” round tube tig-welded chassis with X-style front (cross-frame) suspension. Rack & pinion steering.
Fully independent front & rear suspension with limited slip Ford 9” IRS rear differential. A-arm front suspension with full Aldan adjustable coil-overs front & rear. Wilwood vented disc brake pistons and calipers with all SS lines. ‘Correct’ back-braced reinforced chromed steel rollbar.
Hand-fitted aluminum paneling in each wheel well, engine compartment, and trunk lining.
Provenance: the coachwork molds were taken directly from the original 1965 Shelby CSX3190.

Rearview mirror in hand-made bracket sits on upper center windshield, with separate oval mirror on upper windshield for left rear view. Wind wings & tinted visors. Polished aluminum LeMans cast/machined fuel cap, COBRA hood & trunk badges, 427SC side badges, and rear license plate light.
This li’l red reptile comes to you with original period-correct and authentic California black & yellow plates registered to car—with correct 1965 California orange plate tag and window sticker.

The rewards and pleasures when driving this Cobra can not be measured. The “thumbs up”, the “A Okay” sign, the cellphone photos, and the small children pressed against a windwing—are to be treasured. Regularly, people ask “Is it real?”, to which I reply “no, it’s a mirage.”
This is a magnificent reproduction of Cobra racing history—wickedly fast and mechanically accurate, identical to current CSX cars for half the price.
