On this page you’ll be encountering a really distinctive (indeed, Special Edition) of a 427SC Shelby Cobra, constructed by a thoroughly-respected professional performance car builder; it justifies your taking the time to examine it closely enough for you to fully appreciate its no-compromise componentry, the construction niceties and its no-compromise high-performance characteristics.

The photographs you see on this page as accurately as possible reflect the way you’d see this car in person. You see, the owner directed his wholly dedicated performance and maintenance maestro (Will Herman) to carefully follow this site’s Expert Tips for photographing his Cobra with his digital camera. Curt Scott

FYI, my name is Will Herman of MTI Racing [formerly Ernie Elliott’s NASCAR headquarters site in Dawsonville, Georgia]; the owner of this raging red reptile assigned me to take the photos you see on this page (specifically following this site’s guidelines) and to handle all communications for him, since I’m intimately familiar with his Cobra. WH

This investment grade Shelby American Cobra [CSX4109] in Elliott Edition Red (McDonald’s Red) is #3 of 4 produced in HRE’s Special Edition Signature Series, in league with Carroll Shelby and The Elliott Family (Wild Bill and Ernie, et al.) of NASCAR renown. The objective was to take the iconic 427 Shelby Cobra and one of NASCAR’s favorite teams while with Ford and build an upscale version with state-of-the-art component parts.

In the end, this collaboration catapulted the Shelby 427 Cobra to a new/higher level of performance, handling and occupant comfort.

This blistering fast li’l red reptile has logged a grand
total of only 3,200 miles [±5,200 km].

Shelby provided the following componentry:

  • sleek, reinforced handlaid fiberglass body
  • all lights
  • windscreen and frame
  • IRS fitted with Dana 44  3.54:1 posi diff unit
  • hardened stub axles suspension on all four corners
  • swaybars
  • precise rack & pinion steering
  • rollbar
  • 42-gallon (159 litre) fuel cell

Built, assembled and dynoed at 700hp and 600 ft. lbs. torque with 7,500 rpm red line. At the time of the build it was the most powerful normally aspirated engine ever installed into a Shelby Cobra.

The body was painstakingly prepped and painted in McDonald’s Red to a very high standard, wet sanded and polished. Custom alloy hood scoops were installed and riveted.

You’ll encounter no unpleasant/downside surprises/disappointments with this scarlet-coloured blast-from-the-past.

This is a definitively spirited and nimble driving machine, a fitting salute to those magnificent Ferrari-trouncing driving machines of yesteryear.

I you’re seeking to acquire an exclusive specimen of a genuine Shelby American 427 Cobra that is extremely rare and a heady example of NASCAR heritage coming together in a fraternity with only four members, and as a celebration of automotive and racing preeminence, this is a drivin’ machine just pawing the pavement for a place in your motorcar stable.

This #3 Signature Series serpent has never been available for sale until now.
