Ferrari-Red ‘Continuation Series’ 427SC Cobra, CSX4229!
Here’s your opportunity to own and drive a genuine Shelby Cobra without breaking the bank! Produced by Shelby American, Inc., CSX4229 is part of Shelby’s “Continuation Series” and was originally sold on Tuesday, February 20, 2001 to Nostalgia Motorcars in South Carolina. There the legendary Jim Harrell and his crew installed a Shelby 498 cid aluminum FE big-block with an eight-stack TWM/Borla throttle body atop an Edelbrock FE aluminum cylinder head and coupled it with a “Legend-correct” and a rugged Ford 4-speed toploader gearbox.
Originally painted in Guardsman Blue, my best friend Mark Alch bought his dream car from Nostalgia in July, 2006 and had it impeccably custom-painted Ferrari Red with white LeMans longitudinal stripes. The spectacularly striking persona of this serpent turns heads wherever it goes.
Mark unfortunately passed away, and now this fine reptile is ready for the next owner to drive. It has logged less than 500 miles since Mark bought it in 2006 and the total mileage is less than 5k.
CSX4229 is entered in official Shelby Registry.
Registered under the coveted SB100 [California Senate Bill 100].
That means no smog certification, no California registration
hassles for the life of the car!
And, no, “firing order” has never been spelled that way…
except for on this vintage FO sticker.
—In the (Legend-correct) Cockpit—
—Body, Chassis, Suspension, Brakes—
15“ Halibrand style pin drive wheels;
shod with BF Goodrich ‘Radial T/A’ rubber [P245/60Rx15″ (100S M+S) front; P295/50Rx15″ (100S M+S rear], all in excellent condition [9/32″ (7mm) tread remaining]
There’s something magical about owning and driving an authentic Shelby Cobra. The way it looks, drives and sounds—the way it solicits admiring attention when the deep roar of the engine is engaged—the way it makes you feel when you’re driving it—are indescribable and must be experienced.
