This li’l Indigo Blue beauty is a joy to possess and drive. But I must bid it adieu. It’s in superb condition both mechanically and aesthetically, but you see, I’ve gotten too old and increasingly immobile to drive it and enjoy it anymore. Thus I’ve decided to let it go to a new stable and an owner who will delight in its driving pleasures out on the open road.

I’ve been advised that the paint finish [Indigo Blue with Titanium LeMans stripes] has for a long time ranked preeminent among the most popular color schemes for Cobra enthusiasts.

The photos you see here were shot by me and by my local detail shop (Legion Detailing in Orland Park, Illinois). The owner took them in his shop just to evidence to me the progress he was making in expertly detailing and polishing my sleek serpent.

The cockpit in this serpent is outfitted with:

  • Smiths Instruments blackfaced gauges [with Legend-correct reverse-reading 180 mph speedometer and Lucas ammeter]
  • Lucas toggle switches (also Legend-correct)
  • Moto-Lita hardwood-rimmed steering wheel
  • premium German black leather upholstery
  • 4-point aircraft-style/quick-release shoulder harnesses on driver side along with stock Superformance lap belts both sides
  • bulkhead-mounted fire extinguisher
  • Cobra style floormats
  • Carroll Shelby (personally) autographed glovebox door (see the photos directly above and below).

Although Carroll’s handwriting and his autograph declined during his last decade or so, I think his autograph on my glovebox is one of his very best. I shot it up close so you can see how good it is.
